City of Fenton recently issued the following announcement.

City elected officials and staff on Tuesday welcomed a great turnout at the first of three community conversations being held to inform voters about the neighborhood street-repair millage proposal that is on the Nov. 2 ballot.

The next meeting is at 6 p.m. on Wednesday in the Van Gilder Room of the Fenton Community and Cultural Center. The final meeting will be on Thursday, Oct. 14.

City Manager Lynn Markland, pictured at top, gave an overview of the program, including the unique challenges of funding neighborhood street repairs as a municipal government in Michigan, while city staff helped answer questions about the condition of the city’s local streets (see map at bottom), how water and sewer repairs would be handled (by using funding already designated for that) and more.

We’ve updated the Q&A we’ve created with questions received at the meeting. We’ll continue to update as we get more questions and information.
