A Freedom of Information Act (FOIA) request was submitted to the Livingston County Election Division on February 5, 2025. The request, sent by us at Livingston Today, seeks detailed information about all candidates running in the upcoming election.
The requested data includes basic identification details for each candidate such as their first, middle and last names. Additionally, we have asked for specifics regarding the office they are running for and its jurisdiction, along with their party affiliation.
To ensure comprehensive coverage of the election and its participants, we have also requested contact information for each candidate. This includes their address, phone number and email address.
As a media organization dedicated to providing accurate news coverage on local governmental affairs, access to this public record is essential for our work. We believe that transparency in elections is crucial for an informed public and a healthy democracy. Therefore, we've asked for a fee waiver as a media professional under the Michigan Freedom of Information Act § 15.231 et seq.
