State Representative Ann Bollin expressed her dissatisfaction after the Senate adjourned without reaching an agreement on the education budget. The House was prepared to finalize the budget, but the Senate's departure has delayed progress.
Rep. Bollin stated, “It’s frustrating and disappointing that the Senate adjourned and left town without finalizing a budget for our schools. The House was ready to dig in and get this done today, and we remain committed to approving a responsible K-12 budget as soon as possible to give our schools certainty.”
She emphasized that negotiations had been ongoing with both the governor's office and the Senate. "We’ve spent weeks negotiating in good faith with the governor’s office and the Senate, and we were hopeful about the progress being made," she said.
Bollin expressed hope for future collaboration despite current setbacks: “Unfortunately, the Senate stepped away before we could reach the finish line. Michigan families deserve a complete budget that supports our state’s top priorities like road repairs and excellent schools, and I’m still hopeful we can come together to get this done.”
