Senate Civil Rights, Judiciary and Public Safety Minority Vice Chair Jim Runestad has called for the resignation of Michigan State Police (MSP) leaders following a significant vote of no confidence from the troopers. The vote showed that over 98% of responding officers lack confidence in MSP Director Col. James Grady and Deputy Director Lt. Col. Aimee Brimacombe.

Runestad stated, "An astounding majority — over 1,000 of Michigan’s finest — have said that they have no confidence in their leaders. It has become alarmingly clear that Col. Grady and Lt. Col. Brimacombe’s failed leadership has disparaged the reputation of the Michigan State Police. I demand they step down immediately and urge the governor to relieve them of their duties if they do not resign voluntarily."

The poll conducted by the Michigan State Police Troopers Association revealed that only 1.52% or 18 troopers expressed confidence in their leadership, while 1,167 troopers voted against them.
