House Appropriations Chair Representative Ann Bollin of Brighton Township has responded to the recent Consensus Revenue Estimating Conference. The conference provides key economic and revenue projections that influence state budget planning.
Representative Bollin stated, "This affirms that the path House Republicans are taking through our appropriations process is the right one. We’re doing the hard work of taking a deep dive into every line to make sure we’re prepared for the 2026 budget."
She emphasized the importance of planning for potential cuts to maintain fiscal responsibility while also ensuring funding for critical infrastructure projects. "We’ve been planning for cuts — not only to ensure we can fund the critical roads plan, but also to maintain fiscal responsibility overall," she noted. According to her, a less optimistic revenue forecast should not be unexpected.
Bollin underscored a cautious approach in economic uncertainty: "In uncertain economic times, you don’t spend first and ask questions later. You make thoughtful decisions and get it right." She added her commitment to careful financial review by saying, "I am carefully reviewing every dollar to root out waste, set clear priorities, and live within our means. That’s what Michigan taxpayers expect and deserve."
