Neighborhood Streets Work Begins; Main Street Project to begin Aug. 26

Despite supply chain issues that continue to plague paving and infrastructure contractors across the region, two key projects scheduled for this summer are beginning, with a third to start soon.

Here is the latest information about the schedule on the three major projects being done this summer:

  • Torrey Road Project: Construction, which includes about a mile of resurfaced roadway and improvements to guardrails and sidewalks, began July 25.
  • Neighborhood Streets Improvement Project: Work started on Aug. 1.
  • Main Street Rehabilitation: Mobilization and installation of traffic signs and controls will start August 26, followed by work on curbs, sidewalks and ramps. Paving will likely begin in September, with projected completion by November.
What do we mean when we cite supply chain issues? One example would be a product called silt fencing, which has been difficult to acquire. It is required to comply with soil erosion rules and permits. So while they might not be big-ticket items, the inability to procure them can result in significant delays.

The latest updates on City of Fenton street construction will always be on the DPW street construction page. Feel free to bookmark it for ease of use.
