Bridges Out of Poverty Training

A5

The City of Holland Human Relations Commission will host a two week Lunch & Learn on “Bridges Out of Poverty,” from noon to 2pm at Herrick District Library, on Wednesdays, May 18 and 25.   This free, community training is based on Dr. Ruby K. Payne’s research and teaching on understanding the dynamics that cause and maintain poverty from the individual to the systemic level. Todd Krygsheld, Executive Director of Escape Ministries and a certified trainer for Bridges Out of Poverty, will conduct the training.

Bridges Out of Poverty is intended employers, community organizations, social service agencies, educators, healthcare providers, courts and law enforcement.  “As a result of the training, participants will develop a greater appreciation for their community seeing it through new eyes, be able to distinguish between generational and situational poverty and discover new tools to foster relationships of mutual respect and understanding. All of this will have an impact on programs, policies and services throughout the Holland community,” said Krygsheld.
