City of Rockford issued the following announcement on Jan 21.
Preferred Hauler
For several years, the City has used a Preferred Trash Hauler. There are two reasons for this program; the first is to provide users of the hauler reduced rates and the second is to reduce the number of heavy trucks on our roads. In essence, not only are we hoping to provide our residents/business owners with a better rate, in the end, we are also hoping to reduce the amount of taxpayer dollars needed to use to repair roads due to the heavy truck use. The Preferred Trash Hauler is Arrowaste, please contact them at 616-748-1955. Please tell them you live in the City of Rockford.
Upcoming Elections
As you may have heard, the Governor called a Special Primary Election for March 1st and a Special General Election for May 3rd to fill the vacancy in the 74th State House District. The March 1st election is a primary to see who will be on the ballot for the May election. The vacancy was created when Mark Huizenga was voted in as our State Senator last November. Therefore, if you are on our permanent absentee voter list, you should have received an Absentee Ballot Application from our office. You will also receive an Absentee Application from us in the future for the May Special General Election. Please see the elections section of our website if you would like to be placed on our permanent absentee voter list.
Those who have returned your Absentee Ballot Application should start receiving your ballots in the mail within the next couple of weeks.
New Officer
Please welcome Michael VerWys to the Rockford Public Safety Department. Officer VerWys started with us as a full-time Public Safety Officer Monday, January 17, 2022. Officer VerWys comes to us from St Clair County Sheriff’s Office with 15 years of experience.
Fire Hydrants
If you have a fire hydrant in front of your home, it would be very helpful to our firefighters if you could clear the snow from around it. In an emergency, every second counts.
