City of Lowell issued the following announcement on Oct 28.
Prepare to vote
The upcoming election is Nov. 2nd
One of the responsibilities of living in a democracy is being informed before you vote. The next election is approaching. It’s time to do your research. On Tuesday, Nov. 2nd, there are two local issues on the ballot: a millage renewal and City Council seats.
The Lowell Area Historical Operational and Maintenance Renewal Millage is for the purpose of operating and maintaining the Lowell Area Historical Museum. This millage levies a property tax of .25 of one mill annually (which is equal to 25 cents per $1,000 of taxable value). More information about the museum can be found at lowellmuseum.org.
Three City Council seats are also up for election. There are four candidates vying for the three seats. The candidates for those seats are Marty Chambers, Jake Davenport, Leah Marie Groves and James Salzwedel. The Lowell Ledger and Lowell’s First Look will have interviews with each candidate to help you make your decision.
Are you registered to vote at your current address? You can check using the Michigan Voter Information Center run by the state. mvic.sos.state.mi.us/Voter website. On this page, you will find where you are registered, where your polling place is located and may request an absentee ballot, as long as the request comes in before Oct. 18th.
After Oct. 18th, you may register in-person at the City Clerk’s office up to and including election day. You will need proof of residency to register to vote. This can be a utility bill in your name, state ID with current address or other official document with your current address. When you register, you may also request an absentee ballot.
