City of Rockford issued the following announcement on Oct 6.
This week’s featured park is Rotary Park.
Rotary Park is a quaint neighborhood park with a play structure, climbing dinosaurs and swings. This park also includes a full basketball court, open field for play, paved parking lot and picnic tables. The last time this park was updated was over 20 years ago, making the playground equipment the oldest in the City.
If the parks millage passes, we would like to remove the deteriorating play structure and install a new one, replace the 20-year-old picnic tables and benches, add additional access and sidewalks to the park making it easier and safer for pedestrians to access it, and potentially add a public restroom.
If the parks millage does not pass, once the deteriorating play structure becomes unsafe it will need to be removed rather than replaced. We may need to decrease how much of the open field we mow, decreasing the size of the park. And we will not be able to consider additional improvements.
