Centennial of the Tomb of the Unknown Soldier

City of Holland issued the following announcement on Sept 10.

Holland and West Michigan residents are invited to commemorate the Centennial of the Tomb of the Unknown Soldier on Tuesday, October 5, 2021 at 6:30 at the Holland Civic Center Place. Featured guest speaker Craig B. Smith, Tomb of the Unknown Soldier Honor Guard and United States Army, retired, will share the history of the Honor Guards, dating back to 1926, and what his service guarding the Tomb has meant to him personally. The program will also include a Color Guard, a Battlefield Cross, a Missing Man Table, and patriotic anthems performed by the Holland High School Symphony.

This free community event is hosted by the City of Holland Human Relations Commission and the Elizabeth Schuyler Hamilton Chapter of the National Society Daughters of the American Revolution. Participating in the program will be the Marine Corp League, Shoreline #1027; Veterans of Foreign Wars, Post #2144; Vietnam Veterans of America, Chapter #073; Disabled American Veterans and American Legion, Post #06.
