City of Saginaw recently issued the following announcement.
"I love Charlie Parker. He plays so effortlessly and FAST. It doesn’t even sound like he messes up. I listen to Sonny Rollins too, and play one of his songs called SonnyMoon for Two. It was the first song I learned in a group at Blue Lake Fine Arts camp.
Blue Lake was great. There were a lot of different people there which really opened my mind up to different types of music. The people there were just so good and it was everybody from all around Michigan and even some people from outside of Michigan. My instructor’s name was Levi, he’s a great tenor saxophone player.
He looked at me and was like, ‘Have you done this before?’ He gave me the confidence I needed when I left camp.
I started busking on the street in Frankenmuth. Here in Saginaw, people have allowed me to play for them at weddings, funerals, literally anything. Yesterday, I went to a woman’s home just because she wanted to listen to music with her husband.
I’ve probably played over 300 gigs but it still feels awesome when people want ME to come play for them. It’s just amazing."
