Livingston County Government issued the following announcement on Oct. 31.
Our Livingston County 911 Central Dispatch has the coolest announcement for our residents! Our Central Dispatch is encouraging all residents to download a free new mobile safety app called "what3words."
This amazing app gives you a precise location down to a 10 foot by 10 foot area using GPS information. "what3words" divided the world into 10 by 10 feet squares and gave each square a unique combination of three words that you'll see when you open the app. The coolest thing about this app is that it provides a more precise location in the event you have to call 911.
When time is of the essence and you are not sure where you are, this will help 911 get help to you faster. Citizens are encouraged to download the what3words app today to have the ability to provide their information immediately to 911 when they are in need of immediate assistance. Internet connection is required to receive a link from 911, so downloading the app is a better option to have access at all times.
Check out the what3words website below to learn more and try out the service!
