FOIA Request to Livingston County Regarding Vendor Payments from January 1, 2024, to September 26, 2024.
In a bid to uphold transparency and accountability in public institutions, we at Livingston Today have sent a Freedom of Information Act (FOIA) request to Livingston County. The request was made under the Michigan Freedom of Information Act § 15.231 et seq., and it seeks information about all payments made to vendors within the county from January 1, 2024, till September 26, 2024.
The requested records include specific fields such as the vendor name, transaction date, transaction description, and amount. We have asked for these records preferably in an electronic format for ease of analysis and reporting.
As a media organization committed to providing comprehensive and accurate news coverage on local governmental affairs, access to public records is crucial for us. This allows us to fulfill our professional responsibilities which include holding public institutions accountable and providing transparency to the public.
Given our role in disseminating information to the public, we believe we are eligible for a fee waiver as a media professional under the provisions of the FOIA. We await a positive response from Livingston County as we continue our work in ensuring government transparency and accountability.
