State Rep. Ann Bollin expressed strong criticism following the Michigan Independent Citizens Redistricting Commission's decision to settle over attorney fees rather than pursue the appeal to the U.S. Supreme Court. The commission agreed to pay more than $1.7 million to resolve the costs, prompting Rep. Bollin to voice her concerns regarding the handling of taxpayer funds.

"The redistricting commission has been treating our tax dollars like Monopoly money. It’s about time this saga of waste and negligence comes to an end," remarked Rep. Ann Bollin, highlighting the financial implications of the settlement. She further criticized the commission's actions, stating, "From their sloppy work that violated the equal protection clause of the U.S. Constitution to their stubborn insistence on fighting a losing battle in court, the redistricting commission has demonstrated a profound lack of accountability and fiscal responsibility."

Reflecting on the consequences of the legal dispute, Rep. Bollin emphasized, "After a costly legal battle, today’s $1.7 million settlement is a bitter reminder of their gross mismanagement." She also expressed concern for Michigan taxpayers, noting, "It’s a shame that Michigan taxpayers will bear the burden of their mistakes and inefficiency."

The settlement reached by the redistricting commission has sparked criticism from Rep. Bollin, who has raised important questions regarding the commission's financial decisions and accountability to the public.
