Last week, our Student Leadership class and Lowell Y.A.C. (Youth Advisory Council) members attended the annual Teen Driver Safety Conference.
They attended various breakout sessions related to teen driver safety, including presentations from the Michigan Department of Transportation, Student Leadership Services, and driving simulators that give the participant the sensation of what it is like to drive impaired.
The steering wheel is more sensitive than usual, displaying a lack of control while impaired. It also has a distracted driving feature that instructs the student to use their phone while driving the simulator.
