The City of Howell is excited to introduce the updated and amazing WRRF: Water Resource Recovery Facility! Yesterday was the perfect autumn day to celebrate our ribbon-cutting and WRRF tour.
What used to be called our Wastewater Treatment Plant, the upgraded facility has allowed us to increase the capacity of the plant to treat more wastewater, reduce odors via the new odor control units, and biologically remove phosphorus to reduce chemical usage.
We want to thank our employees for all that they’ve accomplished over the past 19 months. It was a long process of coordinating with contractors so the plant could continue to operate and maintain compliance, while major aspects of the plant were by-passed to facilitate the upgrade. We can now focus on the future operation and maintenance of the plant and serve the residents of Howell City to the best of our abilities with the new equipment and processes.
We would also like to thank HRC Engineering, Pepsi, the Michigan Department of Environment, Great Lakes and Energy (EGLE), Marion Township and Granger Construction for their partnership in this very important improvement project.
We will be hosting a public tour in the Spring and would love to have you join us!
