Fort McHenry helps visitors learn about the history of its past defenders, and how to become “defenders” of historic places, wild spaces, and the cultural and natural landscapes that have shaped American history and continue to enrich the lives of all who experience them. Since 1916, the National Park Service mission has been to preserve these places “for the enjoyment, education, and inspiration of this and future generations.”
Young Defenders' Field Day is an annual event where local students participate in this mission by exploring interactive education stations and learn about history, conservation, and how they can help preserve their public lands!
Since the 2020 Young Defenders Field Day was cancelled, we are showcasing ten online stations that feature our partners' virtual programs.
