City of Brighton issued the following announcement on March 25
Communication from the Mayor:
I'm sure you have all heard by now, Governor Whitmer has issued Executive Order No. 2020-21 directing the residents of The State of Michigan, to essentially, "Shelter In Place".
As the Mayor of Brighton, I am asking that we heed the direction of our Governor and remain home "to the extent feasible". In other words, STAY HOME, unless it is it is truly a necessity that you must leave your home for medical attention, medicine or essentials such as food. I urge you to read Governor Whitmer's Executive order in its entirety Via this link: https://www.michigan.gov/…/0,9309,7-387-90499_90705-522626-…
Reading this in its entirety will give you the full scope of what the Governor expects and what we at the City of Brighton are recommending. We are maintaining all of our essential operations just as we have on a normal day. Fire, Police, Water, Sewer as well as ALL other essential services that are needed by you, the residents.
If you need special assistance during this time, please reach out to us at City Hall at 810-227-1911 or info@brightoncity.org and we will see to it that you get the necessary assistance. You can also call my office at the number listed below or email me direct at: pipolys@brightoncity.org
These are trying times that none of us has likely ever endured in our lifetime. I ask again the we remain calm and WORK TOGETHER to ride this storm out.
