State Rep. Ann Bollin (R-Brighton) wants November to be known as Stomach Cancer Awareness Month in Michigan.
Bollin introduced a resolution Nov. 5 that would declare that month Stomach Cancer Awareness Month, saying it was an extremely difficult cancer to detect in the early stages. The resolution was adopted with bipartisan support, according to a press release.
“We can significantly improve timely detection of stomach cancer if we educate ourselves about the symptoms and raise awareness in others,” Bollin said. “Additionally, we must pursue greater research into early screening and diagnosis for stomach cancer.”
