Farley Hill Elementary School issued the following announcement on Oct 28.
As I write this note, I am struck by how fast our first couple months of school have flown by! It seems as though our first days of school were just last week. I want to thank you for your continual support and involvement as we work together to help our children learn and grow.
Halloween is right around the corner! In keeping with tradition, our school celebrates this day with a school-wide costume parade. We will have our parade on Wednesday, October 31st at 11:15pm. You are welcome to join us! Extra parking will be available at the south end of the building on the field. The sidewalk cones mark the access to the parking area. Our parade route will take us outdoors, onto the playground blacktop if the weather allows. Otherwise, the best place to see the children will be in the gym/cafeteria. Please check with your child’s teacher regarding individual classroom party plans. As a reminder, costumes should not be worn on the bus. Please send them to school with your child in a bag. In addition, costumes should not include weapons or blood. Thank you for your understanding. Halloween is a half day of school this year. We will dismiss at 12:26 for teacher training in the afternoon
The end of the first marking period is today, October 25th. K-3 parents do not receive a report card for the first quarter. Student progress will be discussed at parent/teacher conferences in November. Please check with your teacher for your scheduled conference time. School will release at 2:38 on Thursday, November 7th for conferences that are scheduled on that day.
Our School Improvement Team is launching our math fact fluency incentive program called “Having a Ball with Math Facts” at school. Your child’s teacher will let you know how the program will work as it varies by grade level. Thank you to our PTO for sponsoring this school improvement initiative
Please read through the newsletter for information on other upcoming programs and events. As always, please don’t hesitate to contact me if I can be of assistance to your child or to you. I appreciate your feedback and questions, as we work together on behalf of our children and our community. I have enjoyed meeting with parents at our first few “Parent and Principal Hangouts”. Our next scheduled opportunities to meet for coffee will be on October 29th and November 13th. Thank you to PTO for providing coffee and treats!
